It seems like yesterday when we first visited @newriff in Newport, Kentucky. It was actually four years ago and after taking a tour on a hot July day, I signed up to become a #NewRiffRanger. The Ranger Program was a crowdfunding effort promising one day I would get my very own Ranger bottle. (Basically, I bought a bottle of bourbon years in advance and was rewarded with a special edition bourbon.) Well, this past summer it was time to revisit the distillery, tour the new second campus & rickhouse before bottling my New Riff Ranger Single Barrel pick. It’s bottle #35 of 43. And it is really something special.
Once all of the Rangers for barrel #35 bottled theirs, the remainder of the barrel was blended and it will never to be available again. New Riff has discontinued the Ranger program, but I’ll always be a bit sentimental about this bottle and my small role in helping a local distillery get started. Cheers!
