The Glencairn glass was specifically designed for not only drinking whisky but also to highlight the nose of the drink. Originally designed by Raymond Davidson in Scotland, the glass received the prestigious Queens Award for Innovation in 2006. The glass typically holds 6 fl oz and is intended to hold about 1.7 of your favorite whiskey.
While visiting @thechampagnery in Louisville, Kentucky, our bartender was kind enough to give us a fantastic pour of @angelsenvy rye, which is what you see in the above picture. Using the Glencairn glass, we were able to take in and enjoy the nose on this fine whisky. We noticed aromas of citrus, caramel, maple sugar, vanilla, oak, hazelnut, and spice. The tasting notes were sweet rum, sherry wood, and soft oak on our palette that ends with a sweet and dry finish.
We say there is no wrong way to enjoy your brown water, however, the next time give the Glencairn a try to heighten the experience. You won’t be disappointed. Cheers! ?
